HOW YOU’LL DESCRIBE THIS ROLE  

Working independently the Sales Manager is responsible for continuous growth of ThinkGeek’s market position and leading the wholesale market representatives. The associate defines long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions. Additionally, the associate works with the internal team, merchandising staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities to maximize revenue and profit. To achieve this, the associate works with existing and prospects for new customers, presents to them, ultimately converts them into clients, and continues to grow business. The associate will interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either. Most activities are completed with minimal supervision but may require supervisor’s advance approval.  Some non-routine activities will require leadership’s advance approval.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE*

  • Achieve revenue and profit growth through design and implementation of strategic sales plans that expands ThinkGeek’s wholesale customer base and ensure its strong presence within the marketplace
  • Perform research and identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • Effectively lead and develop internal sales team and oversee external rep companies, communication on product lines, and key items to drive sales
  • Works closely with Product Management on product line development and customization for major accounts
  • Works closely with Licensing on product approval and contact amendments to deliver on account programs
  • Drive new business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluate options, and resolving internal priorities by coordinating requirements; develop and negotiate contracts
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • Develop, execute, and present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
  • Execute strategic and tactical management on 3rd party retail accounts
  • Stay up-to-date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board
  • Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization; adhere consistently with all organizational policies related to our respectful workplace
  • Model team commitment by adhering to the team's expectations and guidelines; fulfilling team responsibilities; and demonstrating personal commitment to the team by being cooperative, collaborative, and flexible

YOU’LL BE KNOWN FOR THESE

YOU’LL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THESE

  • Bachelor’s degree business administration or a related field from an accredited program preferred, or HS diploma plus equivalent years of experience required
  • 8+ years experience in B2C and B2C sales preferably within the toy/collectible, hard home goods segment of the CPG industry
  • Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
  • 3+ years of successful team management and leadership

  • Availability to travel as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives
  • Expert project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Working knowledge of the home goods, pop culture, and/or video gaming industries
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease
